Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-09-28.

This page describes what Derby Data Hub collects when you visit, why, and how to stop it. It covers the whole site.

There are no user accounts, and the site does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail in order to read it. Nothing on the site is sold.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3H4F8XTQ5G) to count visits and see which pages are read. When analytics storage is allowed, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this site’s domain, _ga and _ga_3H4F8XTQ5G, and sends Google a record of the pages you view, along with your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type, your browser, and the site that referred you.

This is used in aggregate only. It is not used to identify you, it is not combined with anything else, and it is not sold or passed to anyone beyond Google as the processor.

Data is processed by Google LLC and may be stored outside your country. Google’s own description of how it handles this data is published at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The site uses Google Consent Mode. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are off by default: no Google Analytics or advertising cookie is set until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. If you choose Reject, or make no choice, none is set, and Google receives only cookieless signals that carry no identifier.

Whether you are in one of these countries is worked out twice: by Google from your IP address, and by the site from your device’s time zone, which decides whether the banner is shown. Everywhere else analytics storage is on by default and no banner is shown.

Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage under the name ddh-consent-v1, with the date you made it, so the banner is not shown again. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings button at the bottom of every page.

Advertising

The site does not currently show advertising. If and when it does, the advertising will be served by Google AdSense, and this section will state the date that started.

When advertising is active, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at youradchoices.com (in the EEA and the UK, youronlinechoices.eu). In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland no advertising cookie is set without your consent, as described above.

Cookies and browser storage

The only cookies set on this site’s domain are the two Google Analytics cookies described above, _ga and _ga_3H4F8XTQ5G, and only when analytics storage is allowed. There is no login, so there is no session cookie for ordinary reading.

The site also keeps the following in your browser’s local storage. None of it is sent to this site’s servers.

  • Your cookie choice (ddh-consent-v1)
  • The refresh interval and default competition chosen on the settings page
  • Teams and players you save as favourites
  • Match alert state: the last score announced per match, so two open tabs do not announce the same goal twice, and whether you dismissed the alert prompt

Browser notifications

If you turn on match alerts, the site asks your browser for permission to show notifications. Alerts are generated in your browser from the scores the page already loads; no push subscription is created and nothing about you is sent to a notification service. You can withdraw the permission in your browser’s site settings.

How to opt out

Any of the following will stop the analytics described above:

  • Choose Reject under Cookie settings at the bottom of any page
  • Install Google’s official opt-out browser add-on, published at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Block cookies for this site, or block third-party scripts, in your browser settings
  • Use your browser’s private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when the window closes
  • Turn off personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and third-party vendors’ at youradchoices.com

Server logs

Requests to the server are logged with the requested path, response status and timing, which is what makes it possible to find broken pages and slow queries. Logs are operational and are not used to build a profile of any reader.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the change will be described on this page rather than made silently.

Questions about anything here can go to hello@derbydatahub.com.

The terms the archive is published under are on the terms of use page, and contact reaches the maintainer. Start browsing from every competition we track or the derby index.
