About Derby Data Hub

Derby Data Hub is a football reference archive. It exists because head-to-head records for named rivalries are scattered across a dozen sites that each count them differently, and because the fixture, squad and transfer records those derbies sit inside are worth publishing on their own.

It is an independent project, not affiliated with any club, league or governing body, and it sells nothing. What follows is what the archive actually holds and how it is built — including the parts of it that are thin.

What is in the archive

The archive is a database of competitions, seasons, clubs, players, managers, grounds, fixtures and transfers, with a page for each. Pages are generated from that database rather than written by hand, so a page only claims what its own rows contain.

  • 84,561 matches across 1,224 competitions, with results, scorelines and status
  • 14,797 clubs and 188,526 player records
  • 521,304 transfer rows and 10,750 manager career histories
  • 4,856 grounds, and curated head-to-head records for every derby we track

How the pages are produced

Every page is assembled from the rows we hold for that entity at request time. There is no editorial layer: if a club has no squad on file, its page says so rather than promising one, and the title, the meta description and the body are all built from the same check.

Head-to-head records count competitive meetings only. Friendlies and preseason tournaments are listed on each rivalry page but excluded from the totals, and each derby page states which basis its record uses and how far back it runs.

Pages whose only content is a heading are marked `noindex` and left out of the sitemap. That is a deliberate choice to publish less: a thin page indexed at scale is worse than no page.

What this site is not

It is not a live-scores service of record. Scores update while a match is in its live window and are labelled as provisional until the fixture is settled; treat an in-play scoreline here as indicative.

It is not a betting product, and it publishes no odds, tips or predictions.

It is not complete. Deep detail — lineups, match events, per-player match stats, market values — exists for a small fraction of the archive, and the sources page gives the exact figures.

Corrections and contact

Wrong scoreline, wrong squad, a derby counted on the wrong basis? Send the URL and what it should say to hello@derbydatahub.com and it will be checked against the source feed.

Corrections that come from the upstream provider are fixed at the source and flow through on the next sync; corrections to our own curation — which fixtures count as a given derby, for instance — are made directly.
